Cemetery
The Town of Remington Cemetery is located at 11910 Cemetery Road, just outside the town limits (along Rt. 658). It's a peaceful, well-maintained resting place cared for by town staff, who handle groundskeeping as well as the opening and closing of graves.
Purchasing a Site
Cemetery sites are available for purchase at $1,600 per site, plus $250 for corner markers if needed. For inquiries about available plots, burials, or purchases, contact Town Clerk Rachael Brinson at 540-439-3220 ext. 113 or email rbrinson@remington-va.gov. She's the best point of contact for any cemetery-related questions.
Maintenance and Rules
Town staff maintains the cemetery year-round, with regular mowing from April 1 through October. A community Clean-Up Day is typically held the first week of April to prepare for the season—during this time, families are asked to remove all items from ground-level areas. Anything left behind will be respectfully disposed of to keep the grounds safe and tidy for mowing and visitors.
Flower and Decoration Guidelines
To balance respect for graves with practical maintenance:
Flowers in monument-mounted baskets or brackets are allowed year-round.
During mowing season (April 1–October):
Artificial flowers (not in mounted brackets or baskets) are permitted only 1 day before and 1 week after these holidays: Easter, Memorial Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and birthdays.
Live cut flowers are allowed anytime; they may be removed by the caretaker if needed to maintain the cemetery's appearance.
Potted flowers are also allowed anytime and may be removed at the caretaker's discretion for the same reason.
Glass containers of any kind are never permitted on lots or sites, year-round, for safety reasons.
These guidelines help keep the cemetery looking neat and accessible while honoring personal tributes. If you're planning a visit or need help with arrangements, feel free to reach out to Rachael Brinson—she's happy to assist. For general town questions, call Town Hall at 540-439-3220.
